PROTECT THE TEXAS ELECTRICAL GRID!

Without electricity for an extended period of time, many Texans will die. There are numerous threats to the Texas grid. Texas needs to take action to harden the grid so that it can take a licking and keep on ticking.

I created and lead a group call Protect the Texas Grid.  Click here to see our Facebook page. 

The group was created to assist Senator Bob Hall in his efforts to provide security for Texans and a competitive advantage for Texas business.  After six sessions of work, we finally passed Senator Hall's bill in 2025 to systematically evaluate all hazards to the grid and systematically work to address them.

Legislative stewardship will be needed to make sure we finish the job. I hope to continue those efforts as a legislator.

With unprecented new demands on the Texas grid from data centers, electric vehicles, and growth, and after Winter Storm Yuri in Februrary, 2021, we are aware more than ever of the fragility of our grid.

The issue is complex technically. The regulatory apparatus we have set up is not conducive to reliability, and the regulatory environment including subsidies for wind and solar has produced a crazy quilt of special interests, none of whom have the Texas consumer and reliability in mind. I hope to use my engineering, systems analyst, and legal training to play a role in making sure we have a stable, secure electrical generation and distribution system in Texas.
